Arthroscopic
Procedure of the Hip

Hip Arthroscopy involves placing several small incisions around the hip that allows a small camera and instruments access to the hip joint. The minimally invasiveness of this procedure allows for minimal scarring, outpatient surgery, early rehabilitation/return to sports, and faster recovery.

Before Hip Arthroscopy, a traditional open procedure was utilized which required a large incision and dislocation of the hip. This had the potential of causing more soft tissue damage, increased complications, bleeding and pain.

Some procedures commonly performed with Hip Arthroscopy are:

  • Labral Tears
  • Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)
  • Loose Bodies
  • Cartilage Tears
  • Synovitis
  • Ruptured Ligamentum Teres
